Why should I learn Conscious Communication?
If you are a public speaker, yes. Conscious Communication is for you.
And what is public speaking? Wherever there is a sender of a message and a receiver for such message, COMMU-NIC-ACTION takes place between these individuals or groups, that is, the ACTION of making INFORMATION COMMON between people. I speak in public when I teach a class, give a lecture, present a paper or project, when I lead a meeting, when I give a speech at a wedding, for example. In addition to these in-person and synchronous circumstances, I also speak in public during a virtual meeting, recording a class or video, recording audios, positioning myself in virtual environments synchronously or asynchronously. Currently, most interpersonal communication modes can be defined as PUBLIC SPEAKING.
However, in the examples above, and in many other circumstances we experience, communication does not always happen smoothly and fluidly. Conscious Communication favors the process of sending and receiving the message so that it reaches the objective effectively, providing clearer and “noise-free” communication. Conscious Communication is for you who realizes that there are such noises, that is, difficulties and deviations in the process of sending and receiving the message.
In practice, Conscious Communication is for people who feel speaking anxiety or have some kind of discomfort in exposing themselves when public speaking. It is for people who have grey areas in speech, lack of clarity when expressing themselves, difficulty structuring their thoughts and organizing their ideas well. It is for those who do not make the best usage of their communication tools, that is, those who do not use their voice and body well to express themselves. It is for people who suffer from the fear of speaking in public and who have physical symptoms that make it difficult or even prevent them from speaking.
Conscious Communication is for leaders. Executives, directors, managers, politicians, heads of Departments, institution directors and professionals in leadership positions who frequently need to lead teams, meetings and present themselves. Leaders in general are greatly impacted by miscommunication since a clear relation between message emission and reception is crucial for these positions.
Conscious Communication is for academics. Teachers, directors of schools and educational institutions, who need retraining and new techniques to better perform their roles. Conscious Communication is for students and professionals undergoing a selection process. Since in an application interview, the moment of speaking is crucial to achieving the desired success, in addition to being a situation that generates a lot of stress.
Finally, Conscious Communication is for speakers, for professionals and students in the artistic field: actors, artists, and directors. These professionals, who are constantly exposed to the public, when become aware of the image they project, they benefit from improving their performance as well as how they connect to their audience. Conscious Communication is for anyone who identifies with self-perception, self-improvement and wishes to express themselves with more confidence, empathy, and authenticity.
